When creating and consuming cached maps, various generation and delivery techniques are available. To meet performance requirements, administrators can adjust processing power and allocated memory resources.
Scale the caching tools service
Before generating a map cache, administrators can scale the caching tools service to increase throughput and decrease processing time.
- Sign in to ArcGIS Enterprise Manager as an administrator.
- Click the Services button.
The services page appears. On this page, service deployments are organized on their service type tabs: GIS services, System services, and Utility services.
- Click the System services tab.
- Click the CachingTools service.
- Click the Settings tab.
- On the Settings page, increase the values for Number of pods, Resource limits, and Service time as needed.
- Click Save.
Scale the cached map service
Once a cache is generated, the associated map service renders the tiles by retrieving map images from the configured cache store. The cached map references the source data in the cache store and returns relevant results in identify and query operations. To meet increased demand for the cached map, you can scale the associated map services deployment. For example, if you have a cached map called Redlands-basemap, you'll need to locate the Redlands-basemap service deployment and scale it accordingly.
Scale the tile server deployment
To meet increased demand for consumption with hosted scene, vector, and tile layers, you can scale the tile server deployment. The tile server deployment is only available when hosted scene, vector, and tile layers are published.
If you are publishing large packages—for example, larger than 8 GB—ensure that the persistent volumes in place for object storage and item packages have adequate space available.
To scale the tile server deployment, follow the steps below.
- Sign in to ArcGIS Enterprise Manager as an administrator.
- Click the System button.
- Click the Tile server deployment.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Adjust the values for Number of pods, Resource limits, and Service time as needed.
- Click Save.
