Apps can be purchased for your ArcGIS Enterprise organization as part of user types or separately as add-on apps. These apps will be included in your portal license file.
The following sections describe apps that can be used with your ArcGIS Enterprise portal, and how they are licensed.
ArcGIS Collector
ArcGIS Collector is a mobile data collection app that allows you to accurately capture new data and update existing features in the field, even disconnected, and integrate seamlessly into ArcGIS. Using Collector, you can collect and update data using the GPS or by tapping on the map, fill out map-driven forms, and optionally use professional-grade GPS receivers.
ArcGIS Collector is included with the field apps in some of the core Esri user types, such as GIS Professional, Creator, and Mobile Worker, or as an add-on license. See the ArcGIS Collector FAQ for details on how to get the mobile app.
ArcGIS Configurable Apps
ArcGIS Configurable Apps allows you to build web apps from your web maps, scenes, and groups without having to write code. ArcGIS Configurable Apps is included with the essential apps in the core Esri user types, such as GIS Professional, Creator, Editor, Mobile Worker, and Viewer. ArcGIS Configurable Apps is included in the portal and no additional installation is necessary.
ArcGIS Dashboards
ArcGIS Dashboards allows you to monitor people, services, assets, and events in real time. Using Dashboards, you can create and share dashboards with your ArcGIS Enterprise portal. Dashboards include charts, gauges, maps, and other visual elements representing the activities and key performance indicators that are most vital to meeting your objectives.
Dashboards is included with the essential apps in the core Esri user types, such as GIS Professional, Creator, Editor, Mobile Worker, and Viewer. The app is included in the portal and no additional installation is necessary.
ArcGIS Enterprise Sites
ArcGIS Enterprise Sites allows you to create a tailored web page experience for your users to help you share your portal's authoritative content to other departments. Instead of learning to navigate the portal, members can go directly to the custom web page you create to navigate the content relevant to them. Sites is included with the essential apps in the core Esri user types, such as GIS Professional, Creator, Editor, Mobile Worker, and Viewer. No additional installation is necessary.
ArcGIS Experience Builder
ArcGIS Experience Builder allows you to create unique web experiences using flexible layouts, content, and widgets that interact with 2D and 3D data. Start with templates to create mobile-adaptive apps, modify template layouts for a custom design on different screen sizes, or build apps from scratch for more creative freedom.
ArcGIS Experience Builder is included with the essential apps in the core Esri user types, such as GIS Professional, Creator, Editor, Mobile Worker, and Viewer. The app is included in the portal and no additional installation is necessary.
ArcGIS Explorer
ArcGIS Explorer is a mobile app that allows everyone in your organization to access their maps everywhere they go, anytime they need them, even disconnected. You can visualize data, search for places and features in your maps, view information about your assets, mark up the maps to highlight important features, and get directed to hard-to-see assets with the compass.
ArcGIS Explorer is included in the core Esri user types, such as GIS Professional, Creator, Editor, Mobile Worker, and Viewer. See the ArcGIS Explorer FAQ for details on how to get the mobile app.
ArcGIS Instant Apps
ArcGIS Instant Apps is the next generation of Configurable Apps, providing a streamlined experience to share your maps using modernized no-code app templates that are compatible with the latest features of Map Viewer. Publish instantly with app defaults, modify essential settings in express setup mode, or use the full setup to search and configure all the available tools and settings to customize your app. In the gallery, you can search app capabilities to choose the right template and manage the apps you've created with Instant Apps.
This app is included with the essential apps in the core Esri user types, such as GIS Professional, Creator, Editor, Mobile Worker, and Viewer. ArcGIS Instant Apps is included in the portal and no additional installation is necessary.
ArcGIS Pro
The ArcGIS Pro application allows you to create and work with spatial data on your desktop. It provides tools to visualize, analyze, compile, and share your data in 2D and 3D environments.
ArcGIS Pro is included in the GIS Professional user types or as an add-on license. You can assign a member a license level and enable access to optional extensions that provide specialized tools as well. For a member to use an extension, the member needs both a level and a license for the specific extension product.
When the member to whom you have assigned a license starts ArcGIS Pro and signs in, the application runs with the level and any extensions you specified. However, if you have not specified licensing for a particular member, ArcGIS Pro will not run when that member attempts to sign in. You can reassign licenses as often as necessary, and the resulting changes take effect promptly in ArcGIS Pro. If you completely revoke the license while the member is working in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Pro displays notifications that the software is not authorized and starts the process of closing automatically. After a grace period ends, the member is prompted to save any work and is no longer able to use ArcGIS Pro.
In ArcGIS Pro, a member can check out a license to authorize ArcGIS Pro for use in a disconnected environment. A red box displays next to the member's name when the license is checked out. When a license is checked out, you cannot make any changes or revoke the license. If you select multiple members and at least one member is running ArcGIS Pro in disconnected mode, you cannot configure licenses for any of the selected members.
For organizations requiring more control over offline usage of ArcGIS Pro, an administrator or a member with licensing privileges can prevent all ArcGIS Pro licenses in the organization from being taken offline.
If the device using the checked out license is lost or destroyed, the member will be unable to check out a new license or use ArcGIS Pro in a connected environment. In this case, you'll need to release the checked out license using the ArcGIS Portal Directory. This frees the outstanding license and allows the member to check out a new license or use ArcGIS Pro in a connected environment.
In a connected environment, you can remotely terminate an ArcGIS Pro session. For example, a member is signed in and has ArcGIS Pro actively running on three machines simultaneously (the maximum allowed) but has left the office and now needs to use ArcGIS Pro in the field. Terminating a session allows the member to sign in and start ArcGIS Pro. In addition, if ArcGIS Pro closed in an unexpected manner, you can terminate the session to quickly free the license.

ArcGIS QuickCapture
ArcGIS QuickCapture is a field data capture app that allows you to capture data fast. You can capture both the location and attributes of assets or incidents as you travel. A project author determines the arrangement of buttons, how they appear, and the information they collect. The app allows you to capture both photos and sensor information from the device.
ArcGIS QuickCapture is included with the field apps in some of the core Esri user types, such as GIS Professional, Creator, and Mobile Worker, or as an add-on license. The QuickCapture designer is included in the portal.
ArcGIS Solutions
ArcGIS Solutions is a collection of focused maps and apps that help address challenges in your organization. They leverage your authoritative data and are designed to improve operations, gain new insight, and enhance services in government, utility, defense, public safety, and commercial business.
ArcGIS StoryMaps
ArcGIS StoryMaps is a story authoring web-based application that allows you to share your maps in the context of narrative text and other multimedia content. You can use ArcGIS StoryMaps to author stories with the story builder, and publish, share, and manage your stories.

ArcGIS Survey123
ArcGIS Survey123 facilitates form-centric data collection workflows in ArcGIS. For a good portion of data collection efforts, geography is critical but not central to the workflow. ArcGIS Survey123 recognizes this fact and brings the sophistication of forms expected in the industry into ArcGIS.
ArcGIS Survey123 is included with the field apps in some of the core Esri user types, such as GIS Professional, Creator, and Mobile Worker, or as an add-on license. ArcGIS Web AppBuilder
Web AppBuilder is an intuitive what-you-see-is-what-you-get app that allows you to build web apps without writing code. With Web AppBuilder, you can build and customize apps that run on desktop, tablets, and smartphones with ready-to-use widgets such as querying, geoprocessing, and printing.
