ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor enables web-tier authentication using your organization's security policies and can also be used as a load balancer for your ArcGIS Enterprise organization.
Installation types
There are three ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor installations; one for IIS and two for Java. To get started, determine which installation is needed in your organization.
ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor (IIS)
You can install ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor (IIS) on a Windows machine with an IIS web server.
- Review installation behavior and requirements.
- Confirm that your system meets the minimum system requirements.
- Install ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor (IIS).
- Configure ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor with your organization.
- Optionally, configure Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) or Active Directory and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for your organization.
ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor (Java)
ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor (Java) can be installed on a Windows or Linux machine with a Java application server.
- Review installation behavior and requirements.
- Confirm that your system meets the minimum system requirements.
- Install ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor (Java).
- Configure ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor with your organization.
- Optionally, configure LDAP and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for your organization.
Installation behavior and requirements
ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor is installed on a separate machine outside the ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes cluster. Before installing ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor, keep the following in mind:
- Verify that your system meets the minimum system requirements.
- Verify your organization's URL, the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) and context path, routes to your ArcGIS Web Adaptor host or hosts.
Note:
The FQDN and context path were specified during deployment. - When specifying the ArcGIS Web Adaptor context, it must match the context path specified during deployment.
- Your organization's FQDN (e.g., organization.example.com) must be resolvable within the organization. For example, if you are using a reverse proxy or load balancer in front of your ArcGIS Web Adaptor, the DNS name for organization.example.com must resolve to your front-end reverse proxy or load balancer.
- At this release, ArcGIS Web Adaptor is only supported on default ports, for example, ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS).
- After ArcGIS Web Adaptor and IWA or PKI are configured, administrators may use the FQDN, node port, and context to access ArcGIS Enterprise Manager and ArcGIS Enterprise portal without a web-tier authentication challenge (for example, https://<workerNodeFQDN>:<nodePort>/<context>/).
Note:
When accessing apps or administrative endpoints as mentioned above, the context path does not change.
Upgrade requirements
To upgrade ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor, you must uninstall the earlier version and install the new version. Before upgrading, keep the following in mind:
- Take note of your organization's DNS name and context. You must specify this information when installing the new version of ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor to ensure your ArcGIS Web Adaptor URL remains identical to the earlier version.
- After upgrading your ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes deployment, you must uninstall the earlier version of ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor.
- After uninstalling the earlier version, install the new version of ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes Web Adaptor and configure it to work with your organization.
